Well, I love working on Linux operating system. Ever since
my college days, Linux was the choice operating system for installing all the
programming languages IDE and messing around with the system. Fedora with its
fluid GUI always somehow won the heart. The other thing that I liked about it
is that, just a day on Linux and you are bound to learn ten different things
about the operating system that you never knew before.
So, I wanted to try out the installation of the Fedora 23 server.
Now I use the Oracle VirtualBox for messing around with my system. Below are a
couple of snapshots from the Oracle VirtualBox configuration.
Once, I power on the server, it will ask me for the iso
image file as shown in the below snapshot.
Once I choose the image file, I click on “Start” to get the
installation process started out.
The first screens of installation are as follows.
Once all the configuration changes are done, I click on the
Reboot button as shown in the above snapshot.
As soon as the system reboots, it takes me back to the
installation page which is weird since I already installed the OS. Now if I
choose the boot from local disk, the system gives me a boot failure error as
shown in the below snapshot.
I read a couple of blogs and found that this issue is
specific to the Oracle VirtualBox since it assumes that the boot disk is still
plugged into the system and by default the boot disk takes priority.
So I go to the settings of the VirtualBox and remove the disk
from the virtual disk as shown in the below snapshot.
Once the disk is removed and the changes are saved, I
continue with the login and it allows me to access the system as shown in the
below snapshot.
Finally, got Fedora 23 Server to be installed. Hello
Houston, we have a launch…
The next step would be to get the GUI configured on the
server. But more on this later.
